How It Works

Three steps. One trophy.

Step 01 — Submit
Pay the entry fee to be considered

The entry fee covers editorial review and program administration. Products must have been commercially available during the 2025 calendar year. Submitting does not guarantee a win.

Step 02 — Judging
FLYING’s editors decide — not sales

Our editorial team evaluates all submissions independently using four criteria: innovation, real-world utility, quality of execution, and relevance to GA pilots. Sales has zero input.

Step 03 — Win
Trophy. Badge. Recognition.

Winners receive a physical trophy at the AirVenture party on July 20. After selection, winners are offered amplification packages — declining has zero effect on winner status.

Award Categories

Five categories. One winner each.

Each submission is reviewed independently by the editors who cover that beat. Submit in one or more categories.

Title Sponsor
Event & Awards Title Sponsorship

One brand per year is the exclusive Title Sponsor of the FLYING Editor’s Choice Awards and AirVenture party. The Title Sponsor’s logo is on all event materials and their team presents the awards — editorial selection is 100% independent. Party packages also available: cocktail, food, and photo booth sponsorships at $5,000–$7,500 to offset event costs.

Pay for consideration. Not for recognition.

Submitting does not guarantee a win. It guarantees your product is evaluated by FLYING’s editors — pilots themselves — who have covered GA for 99 years.

Editorial Integrity

The award’s credibility is the product.

FLYING’s editorial voice is trusted because it isn’t for sale. These ground rules protect the value of every win.

Sales and editorial are fully separated

Winners are selected by FLYING’s editors before any packages are offered. Sales has no input into judging decisions at any point in the process.

Entry fees are consideration fees only

Paying to submit does not influence the editorial outcome. It guarantees your product is reviewed — nothing more, nothing less.

Winning is unconditional

Declining a winner package has zero effect on winner status. The trophy and the title are yours regardless of whether you purchase amplification.

No award for weak submissions

If no submitted product meets the editorial bar in a given category, that category goes unawarded. Every win is genuine editorial recognition.

Common Questions

Answered.

Is this pay-to-win?

No. The entry fee is a consideration fee — it covers editorial review and program administration. Our editors select winners independently, and sales has no input. Brands who decline a winner package still get their trophy and their win, no questions asked.

Why pay if we might not win?

The opportunity to be evaluated by FLYING’s editors has value regardless of outcome. We list all nominees on our awards page, not just winners. And if you have a strong product, the odds are real — we’re looking for the best in each of six categories.

What if our product fits multiple categories?

Submit to both at the bundle rate: $500 per entry instead of $250. Each submission receives a fully independent editorial review. You get multiple chances at recognition with one product.

What are the eligibility requirements?

Products must have been commercially available during the 2025 calendar year. Products launching for the first time at AirVenture 2026 are not eligible — those brands should plan for the 2027 program.

When do we find out if we won?

Winners are notified by July 1, 2026 — ahead of the trophy presentation at the AirVenture party on July 20. Amplification packages have a commitment deadline of July 10.

What is the Innovation Award Presenting Sponsorship?

One brand per year can attach their name to the Innovation Award trophy and its marketing. This is sold separately from category entries. The editorial team selects the Innovation Award winner fully independently of who holds the presenting sponsorship.
