One person was killed and another critically injured after two helicopters collided midair in New Jersey on Sunday.

According to the FAA, an Enstrom F-28A and Enstrom 280C crashed near Hammonton Municipal Airport (N81) around 11:25 a.m. EST. Only the aircraft’s pilots were on board at the time of the collision.

One of the helicopters was engulfed in flames after crashing and had to be extinguished by fire crews.

Police and fire officials in Hammonton told the Associated Press that one of the pilots was killed, and the other was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not released the names of the pilots or said why they were flying on Sunday.

Video obtained by WCAU-TV in Philadelphia shows one of the helicopters apparently spinning out of control while losing altitude.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the incident.
