At about 1530 Eastern time, the airplane was substantially damaged during a runway overrun. The commercial pilot and passenger were not injured. Visual conditions prevailed.
The pilot later stated he was demonstrating flight maneuvers to the passenger. During the landing approach, he had difficulty setting the wing-flap position since there was no indicator. Looking out the window, he estimated the flaps were eight degrees down. He continued the approach at 60 knots but realized he was fast and high. The airplane touched down approximately 300-400 feet from the end of the runway and the pilot was unable to stop. The airplane overran the runway, went down an embankment and collided with trees, damaging both wings.
