On Saturday, October 10, Kayla Varcoe and husband David Berman held their intimate wedding in the family’s private airplane hangar in Charlevoix, Michigan (KCVX). While many pilot couples have found an aviation theme or location to envelope their nuptials, the current COVID-19 situation that has delayed so many special events led Varcoe and Berman to a particular twist.
“Instead of ‘walking me down the aisle,’ my father [Randall Varcoe] flew me in—in his Rockwell 114 Commander,” said Varcoe. “David also flew his parents in via our Cessna 340A. My father has been flying for over 40 years (since 1978) and was the reason why my husband started flying 4 years ago.” The socially distant proceedings should give other aviation-minded couples ideas—as a great use for general aviation takes on an excellent role to suit the times.
