Bombardier achieved certification of its Learjet 70, a super-light-jet stalemate of the Learjet 75 that earned its approval papers a few weeks ago. Validation of the airplane, a revamped version of the Learjet 40, clears the way for immediate deliveries of the Model 70, which Bombardier launched in May 2012 amid a slowing market for light jets.

Bombardier is betting buyers will be attracted to the Learjet 70’s totally redesigned interior, more powerful Honeywell TFE731-BR engines and Garmin G5000 cockpit. The Canadian manufacturer reportedly holds orders for 10 Learjet 70s and another 39 orders for the Learjet 75.

Next up for Wichita-based Learjet, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, will be the first flight of the hotly anticipated Learjet 85, the first all-composite Learjet. That milestone is projected to occur before the end of the year.
