Community College of Beaver County

Located in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, the Community College of Beaver County offers three aviation Associate of Applied Science degree programs. The university partners with Southern Illinois University to offer a bachelor’s degree on campus.

Program Highlights

The Community College of Beaver County works with many different flight training affiliates near the school. This allows for students to have flexibility in choosing their flight provider. Depending on which flight school the student chooses, they will have a commute between 0-75 minutes. The CCBC Aviation Science Center is located directly on Beaver County Airport (KBVI). Other flight providers include:

● AirQuest Aviation, Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport (KBTP)
● High Flight Academy, Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport (KBTP)
● Moore Aviation, Beaver County Airport (KBVI)
● Pittsburgh Flight Training Center, Allegheny County Airport (KAGC)
● Ravotti Air LLC, Venango Regional Airport (FKL)

For students who choose to fly out of the further airports, academic classes may be able to be taken online.

Programs offered include:

  • Associate of Applied Science
    • Aerospace Management
    • Air Traffic Control
    • Professional Pilot
  • Bachelor of Science
    • Aviation Management

Southern Illinois University offers its aviation management bachelor’s degree at the CCBC campus.

Value

Tuition at the Community College of Beaver County is a little on the high side for a community college. In-state and in-county students will have a base tuition of around $3,500 a semester, and Pennsylvania residents who reside in all other counties will have a base tuition of about $6,400 a semester. Out-of-state students will pay about $9,300 a semester. This is base tuition and does not include flight fees.

Students progressing through all ratings from private pilot to certificated flight instructor (instrument) can expect to spend between $70,000-80,000 in total fees depending on which flight school affiliate they choose.

The college accepts outside aviation scholarships to help mitigate the cost of tuition, including:

● A.A.E Scholarship Program
● Corporate Aviation Management Committee Scholarship
● Buckingham Memorial Scholarship

The college also accepts veteran benefits such as the GI Bill.

Fleet and Facilities

Because the Community College of Beaver County allows students to get flight training through one of six affiliate trainers, the fleets used for training will vary.

The most traditional fleets of training aircraft include Cessnas, Pipers, or Beechcrafts.

Graduates of the Community College of Baltimore County’s flight program will be eligible for a R-ATP

Campus Life

The Community College of Beaver County is located close to the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

Sports are available for interested students, including Esports. The Esports team at CCBC has made the national championships multiple times. The college also offers traditional sports such as basketball and volleyball.

The school hosts student clubs and organizations on-campus. There is also a Greek Life presence. Clubs include:
● Creative Writing Club
● Multicultural Club
● Visual Arts Club

The Bottom Line

Allowing students to pick their flight school from a list of six affiliates makes the aviation program flexible. Graduates are eligible for a R-ATP and have the flexibility to take academic classes online.
