Community College of Baltimore County

Located in Catonsville, Maryland, Community College of Baltimore County offers six aviation Associate of Applied Science degree programs with three concentrations for flight students.

Program Highlights

The college works with an array of different flight training affiliates, which makes finding and completing flight training very flexible for students. Depending on which flight school the student chooses, they will commute between 5-45 minutes.

The affiliates are:

● Middle River Aviation, Martin State Airport (KMTN)
● Washington International Flight Academy, Gaithersburg Airport (KGAI)

Value

The school’s base tuition is affordable. Students pursuing any of their degrees should expect to pay about $12,000 per year. This is base tuition and does not include flight expenses.

Students progressing through all ratings from private pilot to certificated flight instructor (Instrument) can expect to spend between $70,000-80,000 in total fees depending on if the student pursues a fixed-wing plan or a rotor wing plan.

Community College of Baltimore County accepts outside aviation scholarships to help students mitigate the cost of school. Some include the:

● LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Scholarship
● Lisa Kaminski Memorial Scholarship
● Mike Rowe Work Ethic Scholarship

The college also accepts veteran benefits such as GI Bill.

Fleet and Facilities

Because the Community College of Baltimore County allows students to get their flight training through one of eight affiliate trainers, the fleets used for training will vary.

The most traditional fleets of training aircraft include Cessnas, Pipers, or Beechcrafts.

Graduates will be eligible for a R-ATP.

Campus Life

The Community College of Baltimore County may be small, but the school tries to create a complete college experience.

Sports are available for interested students. Many student-athletes transfer to continue their education at four-year colleges and universities.

Community College of Baltimore County has dozens of clubs and organizations on campus for students to get involved in, including:
