Italian GPS-maker AvMap is about to introduce a lightweight panel-mounted EFIS designed for light sport, experimental and ultralight aircraft. Weighing 5.1 ounces, the AvMap Ultra got its name for its ultra light design. It incorporates a 3.5-inch LCD display that slots into a standard round instrument panel hole.

The unit is a full air data attitude heading reference system (ADAHRS) that connects to the airplane’s pitot static system. A GPS receiver is included with the system. Airspeed, altitude, attitude, vertical speed and sideslip are all displayed, and there is a separate HSI screen that, in addition to navigation information, displays the estimated wind.
