The status of the pilot who was flying an F-15C based at the Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield, Massachusetts, remains unknown after the airplane he was flying crashed in a heavily wooded remote area of the Shenandoah Valley in western Virginia yesterday at 9:05 a.m., the U.S. Air Force reports. The pilot, a member of the 104th Fighter Wing, had reported an emergency before the airplane crashed.
“Information on this incident is developing and we are not going to speculate on what occurred or the status of the pilot,” said Col. James Keefe, 104th Fighter Wing Commander. “We are hopeful that the pilot is OK, and the pilot will be in our thoughts and prayers as the events of this incident unfold.”
