Key Takeaways:

  • Canadian kit aircraft manufacturer Murphy Aviation is insolvent and has liquidated its physical assets, including manufacturing equipment, via a court-ordered auction due to months of unpaid rent.
  • The company's insolvency follows its 2022 acquisition by China's Duofu Group, whose financial support ceased after its owner faced "compulsory measures" and the conglomerate experienced liquidity issues.
  • The future of outstanding customer orders, replacement parts, technical support for existing aircraft owners, and the company's intellectual property (aircraft designs) remains unclear.

Canadian kit manufacturer Murphy Aviation is reportedly insolvent and has sold off its physical assets, including manufacturing equipment.

Canadian Aviator was first to report the manufacturer’s insolvency last week, quoting Sam Garandza, general manager of Able Auctions, as saying that “everything sold.” Items available to buyers in the October 22 auction included a laser-cutting machine, 400-ton hydraulic press brake, aluminum stock, and incomplete kit aircraft.
