A passenger aboard an F-15D Eagle fighter jet appears to have accidentally ejected from the cockpit during a ride-along with 104th Fighter Wing personnel at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield, Massachusetts, this week.
According to a Facebook post by military forum page Air Force amn/nco/snco, the individual ejected on the flight line before taking off on August 12. The post included a video showing the aftermath of the incident.
Another video posted to social media showed air traffic control communications discussing the incident and shutting down the runway.
The Air Force amn/nco/snco stated that the person ejected was “apparently a recruiting officer” from the 104th Fighter Wing, though the individual has not yet been identified by base officials.
It is unknown whether or not the passenger was injured during the ejection.
FLYING has reached out to the 104th Fighter Wing for comment.
