President Trump announced the U.S. has ordered a "new and enhanced" B-2 stealth bomber, describing it as "similar but quite different" from the current model, but provided no specific details on its upgrades.
The announcement was made unexpectedly during a press conference where Trump discussed successful B-2 operations during missile strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June.
Aerospace manufacturer Northrop Grumman, while praising the existing B-2, has not announced a new version of the aircraft; they are instead developing the B-21 Raider as the B-2's eventual replacement, expected for service by 2026 or 2027.
President Donald Trump this week said the U.S. has ordered a “new and enhanced” version of the B-2 stealth bomber.
Speaking at a press conference at the White House on Wednesday, Trump called the aircraft “similar but actually quite different” from the current model.
