A passenger successfully made an emergency hard landing in a Cessna 150 at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport (KGVL) after the pilot became incapacitated.
The pilot later died, though it is unclear if the death resulted from the hard landing, the medical emergency, or both.
With guidance from multiple people on the radio, the passenger maneuvered the aircraft before landing, resulting in a broken nosewheel and smoke, but she was reported uninjured.
