NASA's Super Guppy recently transported the Orion spacecraft's heat shield from Florida's Kennedy Space Center to Alabama.
The heat shield, which protected the Orion crew module during the Artemis I test flight, was delivered to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center for post-flight analysis, including the removal of its protective Avcoat layer.
The Super Guppy is a unique, massive turboprop cargo aircraft, originally designed in the 1960s to carry oversized loads like Saturn V rocket sections.
