The Cessna TTx is the airplane that your nonpilot friends—and perhaps some of the pilots too—mistake for a Cirrus.
While there are similarities, the differences have more to do with how the TTx’s story played out. The Cessna traces its genetics to the Lancair ES kitplane, which developed into the Columbia 300 before Cessna acquired the design in 2007 to compete with the hot-selling Cirrus. The TTx never really caught on, though, and Cessna ceased production in 2018.
