Each day, the team at Aircraft For Sale picks an airplane that catches our attention because it is unique, represents a good deal, or has other interesting qualities. You can read Aircraft For Sale: Today’s Top Pick at FLYINGMag.com daily.
Today’s Top Pick is a 1967 Piper PA-32-260 Cherokee Six.
Piper’s original PA-28 Cherokee, introduced in 1960, was a successful answer to Cessna’s 172 Skyhawk, and the two competed for decades in the markets for trainers and economical personal aircraft. By the early 1960s, though, Cessna was offering the larger, six-place 205, and later the 206, to customers seeking utility aircraft with more space and higher useful loads.
Piper was beaten to the punch—again.

In response, Piper enlarged its popular Cherokee, lengthening and widening the cabin and adding a couple of feet to the wing. The new model also got more muscle from a 260 hp Lycoming O-540 and later from a 300 hp IO-540. For some pilots, the new Cherokee Six became the airborne version of the family station wagon. For others it performed the heavy-hauling duties of a pickup truck or van.
While the PA-32 airframe continued to evolve, first adopting retractable gear to become the Lance, and later the Saratoga, with a new wing and more luxurious interior, the basic, fixed-gear Six soldiered on for decades. For many missions, the less-complicated, utilitarian model is the most practical and economical mount.

This 1967 Piper PA-32-260 Cherokee Six for sale today has 5,838 hours on the airframe, 1,777 hours since overhaul on its 260 hp Lycoming O-540-E4B5, and 551 since overhaul on its Hartzell HC-C2YK-1BF two-blade propeller. The aircraft has a useful load of 1,527 pounds. A new starter was installed in 2022, and the wing spar AD was completed in April 2025.
The panel includes an Aspen EFD 1000 PFD, Garmin GPS 175, GMA 345 audio panel, GTX 327 transponder, JPI EDM 830 engine monitor, STEC 50 autopilot, uAvionix SkyBeacon ADS-B, King KX 155 nav/com, Narco MK 12D nav/com, and BFG Stormscope.
Pilots looking for the airborne equivalent of a large SUV with a roomy cabin and robust structure that are ideal for hauling passengers or cargo should consider this 1967 Piper PA-32-260 Cherokee Six, which is available for $129,900 on AircraftForSale.
