Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP)

The Vintage Flying Museum plans to fly the Beech Super 18, once owned by aviation pioneer Jackie Cochran and entertainer Merv Griffin, to air shows to promote the history of women in aviation.

In the wake of WWII, the Department of the Air Force became a stand-alone service on September 18, 1947, created by the National Security Act signed into law by President Harry Truman.
