May 01, The Woodlands, Texas / Mitsubishi MU-2B

At approximately 12:41 central time, a Mitsubishi MU-2B-40 crashed after an uncontrolled descent near The Woodlands, killing the pilot and passenger. VMC prevailed but scattered thunderstorms were reported in the vicinity of the departure airport. Witnesses reported hearing an engine surging noise and observed the airplane in a flat spin until it struck the ground in a near-vertical attitude. Witnesses said the airplane appeared to be missing part of one wing as it descended and the right wing fuel tip tank has not been located….

June 10, Cerrillos, N.M. / Mitsubishi MU-2B

At approximately 12:15 mountain time, a Mitsubishi MU-2B-20 crashed and burned near Cerrillos while on landing approach to Santa Fe. The pilot and passenger were killed. The pilot was instructed to enter a holding pattern, at which time he canceled his IFR flight plan. He was then told he would be following two other airplanes for landing. Witnesses reported seeing the airplane in a spin and ground scars were consistent with a 45-degree nose down right spin….

April 15, Carolina, Puerto Rico / Mitsubishi MU-2B-35

At about 1503 Atlantic time, a Mitsubishi MU-2B-35 went out of control while holding and crashed into a car dealership near Carolina. The pilot and one person on the ground were killed, and two people on the ground were injured. The pilot was advised to hold VFR over the area because a military are was hot. Radar data showed the airplane began descending during the second trip around the holding pattern. Witnesses at the scene reported a ceiling of 300 feet in light rain, but no thunderstorms….
