March 21, 2006, Greenfield, Calif. / Extra Flugzeugbau 300S

The airplane sustained substantial damage when it collided with the ground along the edge of a runway during final approach. The accident occurred at about 1030 Pacific time. The Commercial pilot received fatal injuries; visual conditions prevailed. Witnesses said the airplane veered to the right and nosed down, colliding with the ground about 100 feet to the right, and about 850 feet past the approach end of the runway. July 08, 2004, Boise, Idaho / Extra 300L

The acrobatic airplane was destroyed after impacting terrain during maneuvering flight near Boise, Idaho, at about 1800 Mountain time. The Airline Transport pilot and sole passenger were seriously injured. Visual conditions prevailed. A witness reported that the airplane was coming out of a loop on the downside of the maneuver when it failed to pull up in time to clear the ground. The witness stated that he saw the airplane impact the ground in a slightly nose-up attitude, cartwheel after its left wing impacted the ground, then observed a cloud of dust before the aircraft came to rest inverted. A New Turboprop Single from Extra

March 24, Dow, Ill. / Extra 300S

At 13:00 CST, an Extra 300S experienced a failure of the upper left longeron and a cross member at the horizontal stabilizer attach point. The failure occurred when the pilot entered a roll maneuver while practicing for an airshow. The pilot was able to land the airplane without further incident. The pilot was not injured….
