At 01:24 central time, a Cessna 152 crashed near Navasota, killing the pilot and passenger. VMC prevailed and the airplane was on an IFR flight plan. The pilot told controllers he was having a problem with the vacuum system and was disoriented. The controller provided vectors to the pilot so he could return to College Station. At 17:45 Pacific time, a rented Cessna 152 lost power during cruise flight and subsequently landed hard at the Lodi airport. The pilot was not injured. April 18, La Grange, Ky. / Cessna 152

At about 20:00 eastern time, a Cessna 152 nose-dived into the ground during low-level maneuvering near La Grange, killing the student pilot. Witnesses said the pilot called his home by cell phone while airborne, saying hed soon be flying overhead. He circled his house at 100 to 300 feet, wagging the wings. After about five minutes, the airplane flew toward a prison complex and suddenly nose-dived into the ground. No pre-crash anomalies were found. Jan. 6, Spanish Fork, Utah / Cessna 152

At approximately 19:00 mountain time a Cessna 152 crashed into a frozen lake near Spanish Fork. The pilot was seriously injured and the passenger, a prospective purchaser of the airplane, suffered minor injuries. The pilot told investigators the flight was a demo flight for the pilot-rated passenger, who was interested in purchasing the airplane. The two estimated visibility at five miles, but shortly after takeoff, while climbing through 300 feet, the airplane entered a cloud or fog. At about 09:30 eastern time, a Cessna 152 struck a deer while making touch-and-go landings at Warrenton-Fauquier Airport. The student pilot was not injured. The pilot said he was on the go portion of a touch-and-go and was rotating the airplane for takeoff when a deer struck the airplanes left horizontal stabilizer. At approximately 09:10 central time, a Cessna 152 overran runway 35 and collided with a tractor/trailer on Interstate 20, killing the student pilot. The pilot was on a solo cross country when he reported to air traffic controllers that he was lost and low on fuel. The controller gave him vectors to Weatherford , where he tried to land into a 20-knot wind. The airplane bounced a few times and the pilot executed a go-around. He then made a 270-degree turn and tried to land with a tailwind on the 2,850-foot runway 35. At about 19:00 Pacific time, a Cessna 152 lost engine power during cruise flight. In the ensuing forced landing, the airplane struck a utility pole. The pilot suffered a minor injury. The pilot said he had departed North Las Vegas about 3 hours, 30 minutes earlier with full tanks. The pilot said the left fuel gauge read empty and the right gauge read one-quarter when the engine quit. At about 21:02 eastern time, a Cessna 152 crashed while in cruise flight near Middlefield, killing the pilot. The pilot was returning from a dinner engagement when the airplane crashed into an upsloping wooded area at an elevation of 483 feet msl. The pilot had flown 16 miles from Chester, Conn., to Meriden in order to attend a dinner engagement in New Haven. Afterward, he reportedly was heading directly back to Chester, however a route to Chester would have been on a 128-degree heading and the accident site was six miles from Meriden on a 064 heading.
