At 1715 central time, a Beech 1900D operated by Air Midwest Airlines as a scheduled Part 121 flight was substantially damaged when the nose gear collapsed after landing on a 7,000 x 150 runway. At 0805 eastern time, the pilot of a Beech 1900D aborted takeoff of a positioning flight after maintenance due to a jammed elevator control. The two pilots were not injured and the airplane was not damaged. The maintenance performed on the aircraft required removal of the elevator trim wheel. The mechanic did not index the trim wheel before removal and reinstalled it so that when the wheel was positioned to neutral, the elevator trim was actually in a nose down position….

At 1540 eastern time, a Beech 1900D operating as a U.S. Airways Express flight, crashed into water near Yarmouth, killing the two pilots aboard. The flight was a nonrevenue positioning flight. The flight departed runway 24 at Hyannis, destined for Albany, N.Y., and the crew reported a runaway trim. The airplane climbed in a left turn to about 1,100 feet and the controller cleared the pilots to land on any runway. Witnesses observed the airplane in a left turn, with a nose-up attitude. At 11:35 CST, a Beech 1900D was substantially damaged by an in-flight collision with a Canadian goose. No people were injured, but the goose was cooked. The Skyway Airlines flight was 24 miles from its destination at 2,900 feet when it encountered a flock of 20 to 30 Canadian geese. One goose struck the outboard leading edge of the right wing, puncturing the leading edge and rupturing the fuel tank. At 16:53 central time, a Beechcraft 1900D was damaged in a gear-up landing at Chicago OHare International Airport. The flight crew and eight passengers were not injured. Seven passengers reported minor injuries. The captain said there were four minimum equipment list items that were inoperative, including the flap system. As the aircraft neared the airport, its landing clearance was changed from runway 14R to runway 4R.
