Key Takeaways:

  • A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) will be in effect around the San Francisco Bay Area for Super Bowl LX on the weekend of February 8, lasting well before and after the game.
  • The FAA strongly discourages training flights, student solo cross-country flights, touch-and-go landings, and practice approaches during this period due to the TFR.
  • Pilots flying into the affected region should expect heavy air traffic, significant delays, rerouting, possible ground stops, and should file flight plans and arrange parking well in advance.

If you are a pilot in training flying out of the San Francisco Bay Area, you may want to stay on the ground the weekend of February 8, as the Super Bowl TFR is going to be in place.

The FAA has created an informational web page for the event that cautions pilots that the TFR will be in place well before and after the game—and is discouraging training flights and student solo cross-country flights.
