Outdoor power equipment specialist Stihl Inc. has extended its commitment as title sponsor of the Reno Air Race Association, securing the future of the National Championship Air Races at least through 2019. The contract also includes an extension of NBC Sport's television coverage of the races for 2019 and 2020.

“We were first introduced to the National Championship Air Races by our employee Andrew Findlay, who races in the sport class,” said Stihl’s corporate communications manager, Roger Phelps. “We were so impressed with the event, its popularity and its strong following of fans that it was an obvious choice for us to grow our support.”

This year’s National Championship Air Races are scheduled on September 12 through 16 at the Reno-Stead Airport. This will be the 55th annual race, which features formula one, biplane, sport, T-6, jet and unlimited classes of airplanes flying exhilarating low-level courses around fixed pylons.

In addition to the races, the event includes aerial performers, military displays, vendors and exhibitors. One of the lead acts this year is the Patriots Jet Team – a group of six L-39 Albatros jets performing choreographed aerobatic maneuvers.

Tickets to the event are already on sale at airrace.org. A variety of tickets are available, including access to the race pits where you can see the amazing race airplanes and meet the pilots who fly them.
