A tragic mid-air collision highlights the critical importance of pilot vigilance and cautious decision-making, especially at non-towered airfields, to prevent easily avoidable accidents.
For crosswind landings, pilots are advised to trust the airplane's feedback, be aware that crosswinds may diminish close to the ground, and use full flaps with normal airspeed (plus gust factor).
Pilots using Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) should note that cellular iPads include an internal GPS, and internet access can be conveniently achieved by linking to a smartphone's hotspot, eliminating the need for a separate iPad cellular plan.
