Piper Aircraft, one of the oldest and most respected names in aviation, has created an alliance with AviatorPro, an online ground school.
AviatorPro was created in 2020, just in time for the explosion in demand for online education triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Described as a next-generation aviation training platform, AviatorPro uses 2-D and 3-D visuals for micro-learning (shorter, more digestible lessons for better results) that can be tailored for flight training at universities, flight schools, and individual programs. The emphasis is on instructional standardization that improves student performance in the cockpit as well as the classroom.
According to AviatorPro, learners who use its online ground school are able to complete their training with approximately 40 percent fewer instructional hours on average. Upon course completion, AviatorPro provides learners with the required FAA endorsement required to take the FAA’s Knowledge Exam.
“This new alliance isn’t just a milestone for AviatorPro, it’s a signal of where aviation training is heading,” said Luke Ormsby, president of AviatorPro. “Piper Aircraft and AviatorPro share a vision: that every student deserves a modern, world-class path to the flight deck. The future of aviation depends on the quality of the pilots we train today, and together we are taking that responsibility seriously by building something that will shape the industry for years to come.”
How It Works
AviatorPro is developing aircraft-specific courses for the Piper Archer TX and Piper Seminole, which will be paired with the existing lineup of FAA Part 141-approved, certificate-specific, computer-based training.
Members of the Piper Flight School Alliance will be able to utilize this new platform to advance their training, supporting Piper’s 2026 initiative to expand the benefits available to Alliance members.
“Piper Aircraft is committed to delivering the industry’s leading flight training aircraft and enriching students’ experiences throughout all stages of flight training,” said Ron Gunnarson, vice president of sales, marketing, customer support, and quality at Piper Aircraft. “Partnering with organizations like AviatorPro that share our passion for advanced, technology‑driven training ensures that future pilots have the tools they need to succeed. As we continue to expand the benefits available to Flight School Alliance members, our goal remains clear: to provide the best trainer fleet in the industry and equip our customers to stand out as leaders in flight training.”
Piper Aircraft has been part of pilot training since the 1930s. Pilots who trained before 1965 were almost guaranteed to have time in a Piper Cub or Piper Cherokee. Today, Piper continues to train aviators in the piston-powered single-engine Pilot 100i, Archer TX, and Archer DX, and the twin-engine Seminole and Seminole DX.
