A story we posted recently about a pilot taking his dog flying with him generated a lot of discussion on our Facebook page, and a lot of our readers had their own photos and fond memories to share.

Can't keep my dog out of the airplane! He has free roam most of the time. When he senses our descent for arrival, he always comes up front to see if everything is all right. My dog Deepha sat on the floor next to me in my Bell47J2A because I was 15 lbs too light to fly my heli when I first bought it and needed a 15 lb sandbag ... so Deepha fitted the need. She would smile and chat to all my joyride passengers (more than 5,000), who lost any nervousness, because "even the dog loves to fly." Aviation Regs (IFRs) stated, "Dog had to be tethered and sitting on an absorbent mat" ... so that is what Deepha did.Rosemary Arnold
