The DA36 E-Star is the world's first serial hybrid electric airplane, a collaborative effort by Siemens, Diamond Aircraft, and EADS.
It features a hybrid propulsion system, previously seen only in cars, which includes a 70 kW electric motor linked to a Wankel engine and generator.
The aircraft powers its takeoff and climb phases using a rechargeable battery, with the project intended to serve as a catalyst for larger-scale innovation in aviation.
