Sporty’s and Frasca Partner on Sim Training

New Initiative focuses on scenario-based training.

Sporty’s and Frasca Sim are teaming up to offer student pilots an enhanced, more cost effective experience, both companies recently announced.

With the move, Sporty’s Academy is adding a Frasca Mentor flight simulator to its repertoire of training tools. The sim, designed to mimic the G1000-equipped Cessna 172 cockpit, comes equipped with access to over 20,000 runways and other visual waypoints throughout the world, as well as terrain awareness and synthetic ATC. Additionally, the Frasca Mentor provides satellite visuals of the 150-mile area surrounding Clermont County/Sporty’s Airport (KI69).

According to Sporty’s, the move is part of a larger effort to make the flight training process “easier and faster,” thus conquering two of the major impediments – time and money – faced by those learning to fly.

To that end, Sporty’s and Frasca will combine their training expertise to provide new training materials and courses meant to be used with Frasca sims. Sporty’s says the initial focus will lie with standard maneuvers and cross-country flying, two areas it has found that students traditionally struggle with.
