Lindbergh Foundation Honors Pelton and FedEx

Cessna Chairman President and CEO Jack Pelton was honored Wednesday night along with FedEx Corp. by the Lindbergh Foundation. Pelton received the 2010 Lindbergh Award, presented annually "to individuals whose work over many years has made significant contribution toward the Lindberghs' [Charles' and Ann Morrow Lindbergh'] concept of balancing technology and nature." Lindbergh Foundation Chairman Larry Williams praised Pelton's work at Cessna, where among other efforts, he established the Cessna Environmental Strategy Council, with five areas of focus - aircraft emissions; industrial emissions/waste/recycling; recycling consumables; energy conservation and engaging employee participation through communication. FedEx received the foundation's Corporate Award for Balance, given to corporations or organizations "whose concern for the environment and dedication to improving quality of life are demonstrated through their business practices."
