Garmin took the stage at the Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, Florida, last week to announce a new engine information system and integrated autopilot interface for its G3X glass cockpit suite. The G3X is strictly for experimental and Light Sport aircraft, and the EIS will be available next month via a free software download. Sensor kits for most Continental, Jabiru, Lycoming and Rotax engines will also be available. The integrated autopilot interface will include features similar to those found in the certified-aircraft G1000 avionics suite. Gauges for the EIS can be customized to the operator’s choice of color bands and visual/audible alerts. The G3X can include configurations with up to three displays.
