The Veterans Airlift Command (VAC) has received a donated Eclipse 500 that will aid in the organization’s mission of transporting wounded veterans and their families, according to an announcement at the NBAA Convention last week.
To complement the donation, Eclipse Aerospace has vowed to provide the upgrades necessary to keep the jet in service. The manufacturer is matching donations made to service the aircraft, dollar for dollar, in a fundraising campaign that began last Tuesday.
“Although none is needed, this is further proof that the aviation community is made up of great Americans whose generosity knows no bounds,” said VAC Founder and AirBoss Walt Fricke.
The jet will supplement the efforts of VAC, which is currently endowed with assistance from 1,800 pilots and aircraft owners who volunteer their time and resources to help transport post-9/11 service members wounded in combat for medical and other related purposes.
