Gemini Sparkle

Key Takeaways:

  • Cirrus introduced an Enhanced Vision System (EVS) as an option for aircraft equipped with its Perspective by Garmin synthetic vision avionics, designed to improve visibility in low-light and poor weather conditions.
  • The $14,900 EVS utilizes a Max-Viz 600 system, blending infrared and ambient light to provide a real-time, black-and-white view of terrain and the airport environment on the cockpit display.
  • Available as an option for new SR22s and as a retrofit, Cirrus also announced plans to offer the EVS on its lower-cost SR20 model.

At the AOPA Expo in San Jose last week, Cirrus again raised the safety bar with the announcement that an enhanced vision system (EVS) is now an available option for aircraft equipped with the Cirrus Perspective by Garmin synthetic vision avionics suite. The $14,900 EVS system is also available as a retrofit for existing Perspective-equipped SR22s. The Max-Viz 600-based EVS system, mounted under the left wing, blends infrared and ambient light to present a black-and-white image on the 12-inch multifunction display in the cockpit. The result is a real-world, real-time view of terrain and the airport environment at night or under low-visibility conditions caused by fog, cloud and rain. Also announced in San Jose last week: Cirrus will now offer its Perspective by Garmin enhanced vision system on the lower-cost SR20.
