Michael P. Huerta is highly likely to be confirmed as the new FAA Administrator, having served as Acting Administrator for over a year following the resignation of his predecessor, Randy Babbitt.
If confirmed, Huerta would become the longest-serving FAA leader and is expected to have a significant impact on the implementation of the NextGen ATC system, particularly leading up to the 2020 ADS-B deadline.
Huerta brings extensive experience from various senior transportation and management roles to the FAA, and is described as enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the agency's challenges, especially NextGen.
