Key Takeaways:

  • Joby Aviation's Superpilot autonomous system successfully completed over 7,000 miles of self-flying missions during the U.S. Defense Department's Resolute Force Pacific exercise.
  • This achievement positions Joby for future defense contracts, including a collaboration with L3Harris to develop a hybrid, optionally piloted VTOL variant for military logistics, cargo, and intelligence missions.
  • Joby sees its defense work and autonomous technology as a dual-use strategy, accelerating the adoption of self-flying capabilities for both military applications and its planned commercial eVTOL air taxi service.
