The airplane experienced a loss of engine power after takeoff and landed in a field off the end of the runway at 1440 Pacific time. The commercial pilot was uninjured but the airplane was substantially damaged. Visual conditions prevailed. The pilot reported both wing fuel tanks were full and the engine run-up was normal. Almost immediately after takeoff the engine began to lose power, surged two times, then lost all power. The pilot landed in an open field off the end of the runway. During the landing the nose wheel sank into the soft ground and collapsed.
