Social media posts circulated this week indicating that ForeFlight, a division of Jeppesen, has laid off a significant number of its employees.

According to one post, as much as 30 percent to 50 percent of the staff had been let go.

In October both ForeFlight and Jeppesen were purchased from Boeing by private equity firm Thoma Bravo, and the deal was sealed in November.

Company officials disputed the figures being shared online.

“Jeppesen ForeFlight made changes to streamline our operating model which will support continued investment in product innovation and customer experience,” the company said in a statement to FLYING. “While we are not sharing specific numbers [of layoffs], the current percentages being relayed through media are misleading and overstated. We are supporting all affected employees with severance, benefits, and resources to help them through this transition. Safety, reliability, and our customer commitments remain unchanged and remain our top priority.”

One post appeared Thursday morning with the ForeFlight logo stating, “ForeFlight laid off 40-50 percent of its employees yesterday [Wednesday],” but it was taken down by 2 p.m. PST.

ForeFlight’s web page does not have any information about a restructuring.
