Key Takeaways:
Effective September 1, the FAA will require flight instructor candidates to obtain a CFI endorsement before taking the Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI) exam.
This new requirement brings the FOI exam in line with Federal Aviation Regulations already applicable to most other pilot certificates, which mandate a written statement or logbook endorsement from an authorized instructor.
PSI Services LLC, the FAA's third-party testing provider, notified testing centers of the change, instructing proctors to ensure applicants present the required endorsement or a Part 141 school graduation certificate.
The FAA will soon require flight instructor candidates to have a CFI endorsement before taking the Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI) exam, according to the testing provider.
