Preliminary Reports

At about 1917 Eastern time, the airplane was substantially damaged following an in-flight collision with trees and terrain. The solo private pilot sustained serious injuries. Night instrument conditions were present. The pilot was performing the return leg of a night cross-country for a commercial pilot certificate.

The airplanes main gear collapsed during a forced landing at about 1300 Mountain time. The commercial pilot and his passenger were not injured, but the airplane sustained substantial damage. The wildlife aerial observation flight operating in visual conditions.

At about 1350 Alaska standard time, the airplane sustained substantial damage during takeoff following an aborted landing. The solo airline transport pilot was not injured. Visual conditions prevailed for the Part 135 on-demand cargo flight.

The airplane was destroyed during an in-flight collision with terrain at about 1852 Central time. Night visual conditions prevailed for the cross-country flight. The private pilot was fatally injured. Radar data recorded by ATC appeared to depict the accident airplane.

At approximately 1045 Central time, the airplane was substantially damaged upon impact with terrain following loss of engine power on initial takeoff. Both the commercial pilot and passenger were fatally injured. Visual conditions prevailed. According to initial statements provided by witnesses, the airplanes engine sounded normal until it was 100 to 200 feet agl.

The airplane was substantially damaged when it crashed about 1845 Central time during an instrument approach. Night instrument conditions prevailed and an IFR flight plan was filed. The private pilot was killed. The pilot was cleared for the ILS Runway 24 approach at BHM, which he acknowledged. The airplane initially intercepted the localizer for the approach, but did not intercept the glideslope.

At about 1100 Central time, the airplane was substantially damaged during a hard landing and runway excursion. The flight was conducted under Part 135 on an IFR flight plan. Instrument conditions were encountered during the ILS approach but visual conditions prevailed on the airport.

The airplane impacted a lakes frozen snow-covered shoreline at about 1845 Pacific time, killing the private pilot and passenger. The airplane sustained substantial damage to both wings and the entire fuselage forward of the tailcone. Night visual conditions prevailed.

The pilot had accrued 13 hours of time in the tailwheel-equipped airplane and was conducting his first solo landing. He performed a three-point landing and, as the airplane slowed, it veered to the left. He applied right rudder to correct and the airplane began to roll to the right.

The airplane was substantially damaged at 1358 Mountain time following a loss of directional control and subsequent runway excursion during landing. The private pilot and three passengers were not injured. Visual conditions prevailed.
