ATP Flight School, the largest Part 61 program in the United States, is increasing its presence in the Midwest with the opening of two new locations in Michigan.

According to ATP, a new training center is opening at Oakland County International Airport (KPTK) in Pontiac near Detroit and another at Ann Arbor Municipal Airport (KYIP). ATP already has a facility at Willow Run Airport (KYIP). School officials say all three locations will offer ATP’s Airline Career Pilot Program, which is designed as a “direct path” to the airlines.

“With metro Detroit serving as a critical airline hub, ATP is investing in the region and increasing access to career-focused, airline-oriented training,” said Michael Arnold, vice president of marketing for ATP Flight School in a news release. “This expansion brings airline-bound student pilots in Michigan not only a no-compromise, alumni-proven training program, but also the airline hiring partnerships they need to launch a successful career in today’s job market.”

Arnold noted that ATP, which has been providing flight training for 40 years, has ties to American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines in addition to regional carriers.

With the two new facilities, ATP boosted its total to 83 flight training centers spread across the U.S. Students train in a variety of aircraft, ranging from Cessna 172s to Piper Archers and Seminoles.
