Program Highlights

Eastern Michigan partners with Crosswinds Aviation, an FAA-approved Part 141 Pilot School, to provide ground and pilot training. Flight training occurs at one of the following Crosswind facilities:

● Willow Run Airport (KYIP), 10 minutes from campus
● Livingston County Spencer J. Hardy Airport (KOZW), 50 minutes from campus
● Oakland County International Airport (KPTK), 50 minutes from campus
● Bishop International Airport (KFNT), 60 minutes from campus

Crosswinds tends to hire graduating students for its flight instructor line.

Value

Eastern Michigan University’s base tuition is higher than average for both in-state and out-of-state students. Both resident and non-resident students will pay about $29,000 a year. This is base tuition and does not include flight expenses.

Flight students will pay an average of $70,000-80,000 in total fees during their four years at the university. This includes multi and CFI.

Eastern Michigan University offers many institution scholarships for students to take advantage of, including the:

● Fred W. Johnson Endowed Scholarship

The school also accepts outside aviation scholarships and accepts veteran benefits such as the GI Bill.

Fleet and Facilities

The fleet at Crosswinds hosts Diamond and Cessna aircraft, including:

● Diamond DA20s
● Diamond DA40s
● Cessna 172s

Graduates will be eligible for a R-ATP.

Campus Life

Eastern Michigan University offers 12 communities on campus where students can reside. Students who stay on campus will have plenty of options for dining with 10 on-campus dining locations.

The school also offers more than 400 student clubs and organizations for students. Greek life is also prominent with dozens of chapters on campus. Clubs include:

● Harry Potter Club

For athletic students, the university has more than a dozensports. Students can also try their hand at intramural sports or cheer on their fellow classmates on the sidelines.

Eastern Michigan University hosts a Part 141 flight school in conjunction with Crosswinds Aviation that gives students the opportunity to learn to fly while having a traditional college experience. A restricted ATP and opportunity to be hired on to Crosswinds to get their hours gives students great incentives to choose EMU.
