The Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE) will host its second regional Pilot Proficiency Project (PPP) session on the weekend of March 8 to 9 in Melbourne, Florida. The event will be sponsored by the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) and hosted at the school’s aviation division. A total of 14 seminars and 11 available real-world flight simulator scenarios make up the agenda. Cost of the program is as little as $30 for a single seminar and up to $225 for the entire weekend’s activities.
SAFE describes the PPP as “graduate school for pilot safety and education.” Using Redbird flight simulators, the sim sessions are based on actual approaches and situations that SAFE members have selected not just for their challenging nature but also for their applicability to everyday flying situations. For example, one scenario involves a “black hole” visual night approach to a runway isolated from other lighting. Qualifying participants receive FAA WINGS program credit as well as Accident Forgiveness from SAFE sponsor Starr Aviation Insurance.
