The Transition, a flying car, has received multiple special design exemptions from the FAA and Department of Transportation, including an increased maximum takeoff weight and waivers for standard automotive components.
Developed by MIT graduates, the aircraft features a compact design with foldable wings, intended to address pilot travel delays and fit in a single-car garage.
It underwent testing on both roads and in the air in March 2009, with approximately 100 units reserved to date at an estimated price of $250,000.
The Transition has just received a variety of special design exemptions.
