Six people are presumed dead after the U.S. Coast Guard on Sunday suspended its search for a Gulfstream G100 medical transport aircraft that went missing off the coast of Nantucket early Saturday morning.

Rear Admiral Matthew Lake, commander of the Coast Guard’s Northeast District, said in a statement that calling off the search was “not an easy decision.” The agency said it found a debris field confirmed to be from the aircraft off the coast of Nantucket and scoured 4,445 miles over approximately 66 hours, but it was unable to locate the four Canadians and two Bermudians traveling on the G100.
