A midair collision between two gliders in upstate New York tragically killed one pilot, 80-year-old James Morzillo, on Friday afternoon.
Morzillo's glider lost control and crashed after its left wing struck the nose of the second aircraft, whose pilot was uninjured and landed safely.
Federal officials, including the NTSB and FAA, are investigating the accident, which occurred en route after both gliders launched from Saratoga County Airport.

New York State Police have identified the dead pilot as James Morzillo, 80, of Saratoga Springs, New York.
