Key Takeaways:

  • Archer Aviation has launched a "No Roads" flight tour for its Midnight eVTOL air taxi, starting in Northern California, to publicly demonstrate its operational readiness and benefits like reduced travel times and environmental advantages.
  • The tour serves as a crucial step towards Archer's planned air taxi service for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and will contribute data to the FAA's eVTOL Integration Pilot Program.
  • Initially, Midnight will conduct city-to-city flights, likely utilizing existing airport infrastructure as dedicated vertiports are not yet operational, aiming to showcase its ability to bypass traffic.
  • Following the Northern California leg, Archer plans to expand its demonstrations to Los Angeles, Texas, and Florida, with a strategic focus on building its Los Angeles network for the Olympics.

Electric vertical takeoff and landing air taxi manufacturer Archer Aviation said Thursday it will take its Midnight prototype out for a series of city-to-city demonstration flights beginning in Northern California.

Archer said Midnight completed about 70 test flights in August. But the manufacturer’s upcoming “No Roads” tour will take those activities out of the sandbox and into the public eye.
