Key Takeaways:

  • SyberJet has unofficially claimed a new East-to-West transcontinental speed record in the C-1.f aircraft class with its SJ30-2 jet, flying 505.3 mph from Florida to San Diego in 4 hours and 7 minutes, with official certification pending.
  • This record attempt is part of SyberJet's "comeback" strategy, coinciding with its planned 2026 debut of the next-generation SJ36 light business jet, a stretched and upgraded successor to the SJ30-2.
  • The claim faces skepticism due to the involvement of SyberJet CEO Trevor Milton, who has a controversial history, including a recent fraud conviction and presidential pardon.

Arizona-based SyberJet has made an unofficial claim for the East-to-West transcontinental speed record in the C-1.f aircraft class as the manufacturer mounts a comeback.

SyberJet said Friday in a news release that its SJ30-2 flew nonstop from Jacksonville International Airport (KJAX) in Florida to Brown Field Municipal Airport (KSDM) in San Diego, logging an average speed of 505.3 mph. The company said the light business jet—for which production ceased in 2009—made the journey in about 4 hours and 7 minutes.
