Key Takeaways:

  • Traditional academic degrees no longer guarantee jobs or a quick return on investment due to extensive study and high debt, making alternative career paths more appealing.
  • Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) careers offer a faster and more affordable route to high-paying jobs, with training programs potentially completed in as little as eight months for under $40,000, leading to immediate six-figure salaries.
  • Pilot careers also provide high earning potential but require more extensive training and flight hours; specialized academies play a crucial role by offering structured programs, internal job opportunities, military contracts, and airline partnerships to facilitate career progression and employment.

As the traditional school year is about to get underway, it is likely that parents of high school students are having some serious discussions about what the child will do after graduation.

Ostensibly the benefit of post-secondary education is to enable the student to get a job. However, traditional college academic degrees no longer guarantee a job, and the higher-paying professions, such as those in the medical field, require multiple years of study, often resulting in a large debt. Therefore it may be several years before a return on investment (ROI) can be seen.
