Each day, the team at Aircraft For Sale picks an airplane that catches our attention because it is unique, represents a good deal, or has other interesting qualities. You can read Aircraft For Sale: Today’s Top Pick at FLYINGMag.com daily.
Today’s Top Pick is a 1977 Beechcraft 24R Super/Sierra.
After decades of selling the luxurious, high-performance Bonanza, Beechcraft designed a line of basic entry-level models meant to compete with Cessna’s 172 and Piper’s PA-28 series. The models ranged from the basic, fixed-gear Musketeer to the more powerful, complex, retractable Sierra.

The Beechcraft models trailed their Cessna and Piper competition to market—a disadvantage that resulted in lower sales. Still, the Sierra and its siblings have features that make them especially appealing.
Like other Beechcraft models, the Sierra is known for a comfortable cabin and high quality construction. Indeed, the Sierra’s cabin is wider than the Bonanza’s and comes with doors on both sides for the pilot and front-seat passenger, where many low-wing models have a less-convenient single cabin door.
The Sierra has so much interior space that it could be ordered with a third-row bench seat. While more of a “four-plus-two” than a true six-seater, the Sierra offers extra flexibility in loading that pilots appreciate.
