Brazilian and U.S. aviation authorities (ANAC, FAA) have issued an emergency airworthiness directive for Embraer EMB 545 and EMB 550 business jets due to an "unsafe condition."
The warning is based on reports of pitch trim actuator failures on one load path, which increases the risk of both paths failing, potentially leading to loss of horizontal stabilizer control and loss of the airplane.
Operators are required to perform operational checks and replace faulty actuators; Embraer states the issue was identified during routine maintenance, redundant systems ensure safety, and the FAA's directive is an interim action awaiting further data.
Civil aviation authorities in Brazil are warning of an “unsafe condition” on all Embraer EMB 545 and EMB 550 series business jets.
The FAA issued an emergency airworthiness directive Monday, flagging and restating the warning from Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) and issuing instructions to all operators of the aircraft types in the U.S.
