King Schools has made some modifications to its Flight Instructor Refresher Course to allow CFIs to focus on areas of weakness or greater interest. Rather than having a list of set course components that must be completed, the course now includes elective sections. “CFIs new to the King FIRC can customize their course for what interests them, and returning CFIs can learn something new each time they come back for their refresher,” said Martha King.
Elective lessons include five topics: Teaching Icing Survival, Preparing Your Applicant for the Practical Test, How the ACS Will Improve Flight Instruction, Teaching Smart Tablet Use in the Cockpit, and Using Flight Simulation to Help Pilots Learn. In order to finish the FIRC course, two of these electives must be completed.
